Important Announcement from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah Regarding Hajj 1447AH / 2026 for the South African muslim community.

The South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) wishes to inform the South African Muslim public that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (MOHU) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has issued preliminary directives and arrangements for Hajj 1447AH (2026).

These directives are part of a broader global initiative to streamline the Hajj process and improve service delivery to pilgrims from all participating countries. In line with these efforts, MOHU has introduced structured timelines and critical milestones that must be met in preparation for the upcoming pilgrimage.

Transitioning into a New Phase:

While the full implementation of these directives will commence in 1447AH (2026), they will have a significant impact on how Hajj is organised for South African pilgrims going forward. Based on the current guidelines, a new framework of facilitation is being adopted in South Africa to align with the expectations of MOHU and the Hajj Affairs Office.

Under this new approach:

1. The new framework introduced by the MOHU will exclude the traditional model of utilising licensed tour operators for the facilitation of Hajj from South Africa.
2. All contracts for services in the Kingdom—including accommodation, transport, meals, and on-the-ground logistics—will be signed directly with Saudi service providers.
3. The Saudi service providers will carry full responsibility for service delivery in the Kingdom, coordinated through the Nusuk Masar platform under the oversight of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

Preparing for Hajj 2026:

SAHUC recognises that this shift marks a major departure from the traditional model of Hajj facilitation in South Africa. The new framework necessitates a comprehensive reorganisation of SAHUC’s operational structures, governance, and infrastructure to meet these new demands.

To ensure readiness, SAHUC has already begun:

1. Expanding its internal capacity and resources.
2. Developing operational frameworks aligned with MOHU’s timelines and expectations.
3. Engaging stakeholders to facilitate a smooth and structured implementation.

Pilgrims are assured that SAHUC is committed to providing a seamless, spiritually fulfilling and dignified Hajj experience under the new system.

SAHUC respectfully appeals to the Muslim community of South Africa to:

1. Stay informed by following official SAHUC communication channels.
2. Cooperate with SAHUC throughout this transitional phase.
3. Understand that this evolution in Hajj facilitation is aimed at enhancing the overall pilgrim experience, ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability.
